Before I start with this blog entry, I would like to take this opportunity to wish Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! Well...its not only the Chinese who actually celebrates. The rest of you who are not celebrating CNY is technically celebrating as well since you guys are getting a holiday! Haha! Sorry to those who had to work on CNY. I have a number of friends and even my own brother have to work. The coincidence is that all of them happens to work in DELL. Note to self: I ain't going to work in DELL next time. Hehe! *smiles*
Dreams are very significant things to me. I dream about a lot of stuff. Sometimes I dream of close friends. Sometimes I dream of my loved ones. Sometimes I dream about myself. But this time, I dreamt about something which made me think a lot about a person's actions. What would you do if you were in the person's place?
I dreamt of such a dream that made me think. The dream was in a 3rd person's perspective. It was as if I was just watching a show. The dream was about 3 travellers, a princess who happens to possess a dagger which can cut spirits and to send them back to the underworld, the princess' servant who is quite a good looking guy and a male magician who can cast powerful spells.
I only remembered pieces of the dream. I don't remember the chronological sequence though. Merely bits and pieces pierced together to form an entire dream. One part was of the princess and her servant walking up many flights of stairs. Both of them were talking to each other about where the flight of stairs will take them. When they arrived on the top, they saw many people there. All of them were cloaked in pure black velvet cloaks. All of them turned to look at her and the muttered words which I do not understand, nor do I remember. After doing that, all of them ran over to the edge and just jumped over. They just dissapeared into thin air. The princess and her servant looked at each other in shock, unable to comprehend what just happened.
This part made me think about the forms of escapism. The extend to which people would want to escape reality. The guilt and conscience felt when someone caught them doing something which they shouldn't be doing. So all they could do is run away using whatever means they could take.
Another part of the dream was when the princess whipped out her dagger and rushed to stab an evil spirit. The spirit just laughed at her and told her that it would take much more effort than a mere dagger to hurt him or his fellow friends. Then it dissapeared.
This part made me think about how hard it is to fight temptation or resist from commiting sins. A friend of mine told me that the temptation to fight Lucifer (otherwise known by Christians as the devil) who would often tempt you to commit a sin. Come to think of it, its easier to do something bad than to do something good. Does that mean that all our hearts are black and sinned in nature?
The final part of this dream made me think the most. The three of them were walking in a long stretch of streets lit up in beautiful lights. The princess and the servant were happily giggling and very much in love with each other. They were holding hands, running around as the servant happily twirled the blushing princess around as they enjoyed the moment together. The magician merely watched with cold eyes as he too was in love with the princess. He sat down on a stone chair as the couple ran around happily, obviously oblivious to the fact the magician was sulking. The magician took out a thick book of magic and started to think to himself, "Maybe I should cast a spell to turn back time. A spell to make sure the servant never existed. By doing so, I would be the only one for the princess." However, when he consulted his book of magic, there was a consequence in doing that: The guy fated to kill the princess would be revived again and would kill if he did turn back time. The magician made the decision to turn back time.
The scene continued and now, its only the princess and the magician. The servant was no where in sight. They were on the same stretch of streets as the princess was awed by the magnificent display of lights. The magician walked beside her, beaming and smiling as he looked at his beloved princess. However, deep inside his heart, he sensed that she is going to die as soon as they walk to the end of the road. I don't know if he regrets his decision.
That last scene left me thinking about a lot of things. Why are you willing to turn back time to spend time with your love knowing its going to be the last time? Why are you willing to see her dead instead of her being alive together with another man other than you? There are so many questions running through my mind which I don't even know how to put in words. Perhaps he wanted to spend time with her as his lover even though its just for a while. But if he really loved her so much, why did he deliberately summon out her fatal enemy who is fated to kill her? Why wouldn't he fight for her love instead of forcing it through magic?
There are just so many unanswered questions. What would you have done? Would you have fought or would you have did what the magician did, turned back time so he could be with her even if only for a moment but she will die a painful death? I don't know what I would have done though.

1st scene: made me think of lemmings
2nd scene: made me think of a verse.
'The Lord will not allow temptation beyond what you can bear. Those that you can bear, He will provide a way out...'
not the exact words, but I hope the meaning is clear though.
3rd scene: the wizard.... for him it probably wouldn't matter cos it would be him that is spending time with her, and not the servant. I guess, he believes it would be time well spent. on the other hand, he probably believes that having to fight for love is too hard and that magic would be simpler. which shows ppl like to take the easy way out, and hoping they can cope with the consequences, or even forgetting the consequences.
this whole dream is probably related. something happened to you that made a huge impression, so much it came out in your dreams.
Wow! Miya-san! I appreciate your comments! This dream does have a huge impact in my life though. Thanks again for shining a new light into this. Some of your words are true too! Arigatou!
It shows human's selfishness.
* Me go find my old dusty Bible to quote Q-chan back *
An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment.
Proverbs 18:1
and
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
James 3:16
